Rate of Pay: $19.00/hr.
Primary Objective: The Nimaamaa Akii is a land-based youth driven project that creates opportunities for youth to connect with each other and Mother Earth. Successful applicants will engage local community youth in culturally significant land-based activities, such as creating outdoor healing spaces, trails and gardens. This project works closely with the Traditional Food Program designed to address local food sovereignty and security. Experience will be gained in sustainable Traditional agriculture and landscape naturalization.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage youth through social media, presentations, etc.
- Organize outdoor activities and events.
- Keen interest in planting, nurturing and growing food
- Having a passion for working outdoors in all types of weather
- Understanding of and respect for Mother Earth
- Willingness to attend all required safety training
- Garden care including cultivating, seeding, weeding and fertilizing plants and trees
- Landscaping including: trimming, mowing, digging and moving materials
- Knowledge and experience with gardening tools
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, twist, turn, reach consistently
- Harvesting crops, clean and pack
- Ability to work as a team member and collaborate across programs
- Able to understand and follow relevant policies and procedures of FENCC
- Must work well under supervision and be able to have a flexible schedule
