A growing food preservatives company is looking for an experienced Production Technician to join their team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible for ensuring that all health, safety, and security procedures are observed and maintained at all times.
- Direct the citric acid clarification and purification processes, which includes the safe and efficient operation of decanters, pre-coats, pre-coat filtration system, evaporators, ion-exchangers, carbon absorption equipment, crystallizers, drying and milling equipment, etc.
- Monitor the clarification and purification processes ensuring all quality and production parameters are maintained and make adjustments as appropriate and necessary.
- Communicate production issues/anomalies to Team Leader, Production Manager as necessary.
- Liaise with quality assurance staff in resolving production and quality issues as necessary.
- Maintain a log of shift activities and operating parameters.
- Assist and back up the other Production Technicians as necessary.
- Clean the production area and assist maintenance support staff in their activities.
- Assist in process troubleshooting and production optimization activities.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of operating procedures.
- Perform inspections and daily rounds with the focus on health, safety, and the environment, as well as equipment monitoring.
- Support continuous improvement activities using Kaizen.
- Participate in training and implementing best practices on the job.
- Follow health and safety standards to prevent injury.
- Participate in the identification and correcting of unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviours.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices within the areas of responsibility, including 5S and Kaizen initiatives while striving to be audit ready at all times.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical, mechanical, stationary, or chemical (either specific courses, process work experience, or education).
- A minimum of 2 years related experience in a process-based work environment.
- Familiarity with digital control systems to the point of making changes and understanding impact of such changes.
- Manufacturing experience focused on a safety/quality/production balance in a hands-on capacity working with large scale automated processing equipment.
- Understanding of basic chemical purification and clarification techniques, general understanding of electrical interfaces and a mechanical aptitude are all assets.
- Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities.
Shifts: 12-hour continental shifts, 7 to 7
Wage: $31.76/hr
