Grapeview Day Care Centre is wholly operated by Grapeview Free Methodist Church, a registered charitable organization following a non-profit model. Grapeview Church has operated the Daycare Centre since 1988 as a ministry to the needs of our community. Summary:
The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) at Grapeview Daycare Centre plays a crucial role in providing leadership in the supervision, care, and education of young children. The RECE is responsible for developing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, supporting children’s holistic development, and fostering a positive learning environment in line with the Centre’s Christian values.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Implementation
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate programs that foster children’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.
- Conduct observations, assessments, and reflections to continuously improve the program quality.
- Collaborate with families to support individual children’s needs and maintain ongoing communication regarding children’s progress.
Child Development and Care
- Build meaningful relationships with children, using respectful communication to foster trust and learning.
- Facilitate social skill development, encouraging cooperation, sharing, and self-sufficiency among children.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children, adhering to the Child Care and Early Years Act, and the Centre’s policies and procedures.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff members to create a harmonious and supportive work environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the program.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, ensuring all equipment and facilities are in good working condition.
- Administer first aid when required and follow all health and safety regulations, including emergency protocols.
Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Participate in professional workshops, courses, and reflective practices.
Family and Community Engagement
- Build collaborative partnerships with families, ensuring open communication through newsletters, in-person conversations, and special events.
- Participate in community events to raise awareness and promote the services of Grapeview Daycare.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Education: Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.
- Certification: Must be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in an early childhood setting.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to fostering a Christ-centered, nurturing environment for children.
