Position Profile
This position is for the mature person and a self-starter who can work well without supervision and be responsible for the care and wellbeing of our own dogs. Some kennel or dog experience is an asset.
These are working dogs with specific jobs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, happy person, with the possibility of becoming a future dog handler.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Feeding and cleaning dogs on a regular, reoccurring basis
- Ensuring all areas, including kennels, are kept in a clean and sanitized manner
- Exercising dogs on a treadmill on weekly basis
- Maintaining accurate records of dogs’ various needs and progress
- Communicating progress of K9’s as well as issues and concerns that arise
Requirements:
- Must be physically fit and able to handle large high energy breed dogs with ease
- Comfortable and confident around working breeds
- Structured handling of the dogs (training provided)
- Must be flexible and be willing to be on call if needed
- Able to maintain a calm and positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills and record keeping skills are essential to this role
- Valid driver’s license and clear drivers abstract and own transportation
- Non-smoker
- Must be able to provide a Police Clearance check
- No cell phones on property while working
Hours of Work
- To start, 4 hours per day
- Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 11:30
- Must be flexible in availability
- Hours may vary
Starting Salary: $18.00 per hour
